Our Mission

The Barrow Mansion is entrusted to the Barrow Mansion Development Corporation (BMDC), whose mission is to restore, preserve, and operate the Barrow Mansion, which includes promoting its use as a community center.

As a community center, the Barrow Mansion is committed to being a place that welcomes people and organizations from all areas of Jersey City. We actively work to elevate local artists, musicians, and other performers who live in and around Jersey City. We strive to collaborate with individuals and organizations in Jersey City and Hudson County who embody ethics of kindness, inclusivity, and empowerment. We aim to be a place of service, where people can find support and healing through peer-led meetings. 

We believe the Barrow Mansion is a unique asset to Jersey City, not only due to its age and history, but because it is a place where a large and diverse population have found education, elevation, joy, and healing.
