New Officers and Board Members for the Barrow Mansion

April 7, 2025
The Barrow Mansion Development Corporation, the 501(c)3 that manages the historic Barrow Mansion, has announced new officers and a new board member.
Meredith Kennedy will assume the role of president of the board. Previous board president Eric Blair Carter will step into the role of vice president. Heather Levine has been voted secretary of the board, and Nancy Arevalo will remain in her current role as treasurer.
Meredith holds a master’s degree in Urban Affairs from Hunter College and a certificate in Nonprofit Executive Leadership from Indiana University’s Lily School of Philanthropy. She is a 2024 92nd Street Y Women in Power Fellow and serves as a volunteer certified mediator with the New York Peace Institute.
“Since joining the board of the Barrow Mansion, I’ve been excited about it’s potential as a resource for Jersey City organizations who are doing work that aligns with our mission,” said Kennedy. “We’ve partnered with Riverview Jazz, Con Vivo Music, Jersey City Landmarks Conservancy in the past two years, and I’m looking forward to finding more ways we can not only support our own programs, but work with existing nonprofits doing important work in our city.”
Another new addition to the board is Nathan Tweti. Nathan served on the Barrow board in the 1990s, and brings expertise in historic building restoration and maintenance. He has long been a member of the recovery community, and as the Barrow Mansion is home to the largest number of 12-step meetings in Hudson County, he understands the importance of keeping the Barrow Mansion operating as a community center. “There is at least one recovery meeting every day at the Mansion,” he says. “These meetings are life savers, and I mean that literally. I am honored to give my time to an organization that has had such an impact not only on my life, but on the hundreds of others who meet here every day.”
Formed in 1984, the BMDC is responsible for the restoration and upkeep of the Barrow Mansion. It manages all events at the Mansion, raises funds, and manages grants for restoration and capital improvements as well as programs and services.
